Where Our Money Goes
GAO’s fiscal year ends December 31, and it follows a financial budget to manage its resources. The Board of Directors routinely receives and monitors the financial reports prepared by the Treasurer and approves adjustments to the budget plan to reflect changing priorities throughout the year as they develop.
The majority of our funds are used to provide low-cost spay and neuter certificates to needy people in the Georgetown and surrounding community and to provide funds, when requested, to the Georgetown Animal Shelter for extraordinary medical treatment (e.g., heartworms and recommended surgeries) that is beyond the monies appropriated through the city operating budget.
GAO is an all-volunteer organization and no board member, officer or member receives compensation. Administrative expenses for the two most recent years accounted for less than 5% of actual operating expenses.

GAO relies heavily on the generosity of the general public for donations. If you would like to make a donation to GAO, we have tried to make it easy for you to do that by using PayPal. By clicking on the PayPal link, your contribution will be charged to your debit or credit card, and the amount (less a small processing fee) will help GAO provide support to the Georgetown Animal Shelter and other animal welfare groups, and to further its programs.
Memorials and Honoraria
If you would like to make a donation as a memorial to, or to honor, an individual or pet, GAO will send an acknowledgement to you and also a letter to the individual for whom the gift is given. Please indicate with your donation the name and address of the person or pet you are honoring. This information can be included with your online payment via PayPal.
